SL has had to suffer through a lot this past week or so as I discovered a really bad addiction. I am no longer going to read this person's blog. My head almost exploded this morning as I read how she thinks it's wrong that a man was convicted of rape because he is cute and she thinks the victim was a whore.
I considered going to war with this particular blogger but there really isn't much point. Instead I've decided that anything that upsets me that much should be swiftly removed. Yes, I'm subtly comparing her to a tumor. So I've removed the URL from my bookmarks to forever be banished.
This got me thinking. About 8-9 years ago, in the glory days of the Interweb, I began using the Yahoo chat client. Sure there were many morons in the chatrooms, but I honestly also had a lot of very in depth and interesting discussions with people from all over the world. Fast forward to about three years ago and I try the Yahoo chat client once more. The place is so far removed from what it was in its heyday that it has become absolutely unusable. Then again, I'm not the bum university student I was in 1998 with unlimited time so this is no big loss.
But why, you ask, has it become unusable? I think it can be summed up in one short sentence : they gave bogans Interweb connections. I'm all for licensing people to breed. I think it would solve a variety of social problems. How many times have you been in an Australian shopping centre and cringed as you heard an overweight 16 year old girl screaming "Shannon! Tegan! Get back here! I'll pull your pants down right here and smack you so hard Dad'll hear it from the TAB!". It helps if you imagine this with an uncouth, nasally inflection, my non-Australian friends.
By the same logical extension, I am also a proponent of licensing users of the Interweb. Obviously I believe in equal access to knowledge and as such dream of a world in which everyone is logged on and has sufficient critical thinking skills to be able to sort through the dreck, however if licensing the Net would prevent people from moaning about a rapist's conviction on the basis that he is cute, then I'm all for it!

Oh my god, she is horrendous and should be shot. I am horrified that I have to share my gender with someone like her, what the FUCK is she doing to the feminist cause? I am too mad to speak. I admire your restraint, but I am formulating a blogresponse to her idiocy as I write this...
PintadoGuy, don't do it to yourself. I promise you are better off not even trying. SL told me I was becoming angry and obsessive by looking at her blog. She is truly horrifying. Just delete the URL and be done with it - she'll never listen to anyone anyway.
