Will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know... turn off the lights and I'll glow!

I awoke today to see a flashback video clip of Vanilla Ice's Ice, Ice, Baby on tv. Oh the memories... the terrible dance moves. The men in black pants, white shirts and black vests. The proliferation of black people in the film clip to add some kind of legitimacy to a white man rapping. And did you ever notice that when he sings "Ice, ice, baby" he doesn't even do so by himself? There are two black guys that sing that part with him!!

But let's face it, we all loved Vanilla Ice back in 1990. This is a year that started out with Milli Vanilli claiming that they were more talented than any Bob Dylan or Paul McCartney only for hearts everywhere, along with illusions, to be broken at the end of the year when it was discovered that they lip-synched some of their hit tracks and subsequently had their Grammy revoked. But that was ok. When you were 11 years old, at least you had Vanilla Ice. This was still a year before yet another reality of the adult world would make itself known. For in 1991, Vanilla Ice appeared in the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : The Secret of the Ooze. Ouch, now I know what a sellout is. In addition to learning what a fraud is, the 12 months between 1990 and 1991 were a golden era for my awakening unto adulthood.

Because I know how badly you all want it, here's the link to Ice, Ice, Baby.
